Decisions

So, here's the deal. There are no kites to be found in Germany right now. (Well except for the one hanging on my neighbor's door. I have almost snatched it a few times...)

It seems that the ugly kite decor is truly reserved for Autumn. The only decorations I can find currently are flowers and butterflies.

So here are our choices.

A) It has been suggested that we make a new kite, and I've had someone volunteer to do so.

or B) We can send out some little German Schmetterlinges in lieu of the kite.

What is a Schmetterlinge, you ask?

Ta-da!!
I found these lovely specimens at the junk store today. The packaging states that they are for indoor OR outdoor use! Score!!

Here is the little purple schmetterlinge, complete with spiky hair and googly eyes:

And the slightly larger schmetterlinge with glittery wings, googly eyes AND pipe cleaner antennae.

Thoughts?

No luck :(

Thanks to everyone who signed up to host Ugly Kite again :)

I'm not sure what to do as of right now because I have searched high and low and haven't been able to find another kite :( I guess they truly are a "fall" decoration over here.

I pass one on my way home every day hanging on someone's front door. I am SO tempted to go knock on their door and offer to buy it from them...

If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to let me know! And if I do happen to find another kite I'll be sure to get her ready for a trip to the states!

R.I.P.

Let's all take a moment of silence to remember our dear friend.

And... moving on...
Do we want to try again?

How about this:

If you still want to participate, please contact me via the form on the right BEFORE FRIDAY (May 22). After Friday the new itinerary will be closed. (I'll accept new participants, but please only apply if you REALLY want to host our friend!)

Make sure you include your address and your full name! If you are planning to move anytime in the next year, then it might be kind of hard for you to host Ugly (or Ugly 2.o)

I think that is where we lost her, actually...as the person who had her last did mail her on, but the person who was supposed to receive her next moved (from what I've been told) and so Ugly may be sitting all alone at her old house :( I guess there is still a chance that she will be forwarded to the new address, but in the meantime, I am willing to send out an Ugly representative to complete the journey.

Nose Dive?

I guess we can assume Ugly Kite took a nose dive and did not survive. Poor Ugly, she had such promise. We all miss her greatly.

Ugly Kite in the Boro

I got here to Tennessee after a short itinerary change in Ingram, Texas. Turns out KJ had just moved in to her new apartment with Sgt. and seeing as I've been going non-stop since Germany we decided to all just hang out and have a relaxing time!

The first day I got here KJ had an errand to run. Apparently the errand no one likes... the DMV.

This is me with KJ's very old yet dearly loved Texas drivers license

After three, yes three, trips back and forth to the DMV we finally got her new Tennessee license! (and a ride in Sgt.'s car!)

I swear I was wearing a seat belt mom!

Later that evening I got to participate in what seems to be a nightly thing around here. I learned how to play chess! I was on KJ's team because... well, she needs the help. In the end, we didn't win one single game, but it was still a lot of fun. Sgt. and KJ have a really good time playing so maybe I can find a kite partner one of these days to try my new skills on!

Go white team!

The next day we slept in a little and then made chicken salad for dinner later that night. Yummm!

After helping unpack some, I asked KJ if we could go to Starbucks, seeing as I've enjoyed the others so much! She said I could find Starbucks anywhere, but what I had really been missing out on was some sweet tea done right! So, we hopped in the car and headed on over to Mrs. Winners Chicken and Biscuits. I have just one thing to say, in my heaven, there WILL be sweet tea!

Southern good is dang right!

I had a great time seeing some of the local spots of KJ's new town, and we were both glad for the relaxing time. I can't wait to see what kind of exciting things await me in California! Hope the weather is just as sunny and nice as Tennessee!

See ya later Volunteer State!

This is me in front of the "welcome home" sign Sgt. made KJ before they got back from Texas. Too sweet, right?!

leavin on a jet plane

Well, Ugly Kite left this morning for her next destination! She was a great help with all the moving in around here and we were able to see some of the "Local Tennessee" together! I'll be posting pictures soon. Safe travels Ugly Kite!
